Professor on tribology

Mihai Arghir is a Professor at the Pprime Institute of the University of Poitiers. He conducts research within the Lubricated Interfaces Mechanics (Tribology) team. His field of expertise includes the numerical and experimental modeling of high-speed rotating bearings and dynamic seals, as well as their integration into rotor dynamics. His major contributions concern the modeling of visco-inertial flows dominated by strong convective forces (high Reynolds number flows), with or without cavitation; the analysis of interactions between thin fluid films and compliant, dissipative structures including contact effects; and the numerical and experimental investigation of self-excited vibrations in rotating machinery (such as whirl and pneumatic hammer instabilities).
